Summary

Pando Telecom was contracted to address critical public safety communication challenges within a new storage facility, Cave Creek Storage, located at 2232 E. Quail Avenue in Phoenix, Arizona. This storage unit, with a total area of 113,000 square feet distributed across two floors, presented a significant challenge due to its predominantly metal construction, which can obstruct radio signals and compromise communication effectiveness.

Problem Statement:

Public safety communications are vital in any large building, especially in emergency situations where first responders need reliable radio coverage to coordinate efforts. Metal buildings, such as storage facilities, often impede radio signal penetration, creating dead zones where communication devices fail to function correctly. The primary objective for Pando Telecom was to ensure robust and reliable public safety communication throughout the entire facility, thereby eliminating any potential dead zones and meeting the stringent requirements for emergency responder radio coverage.

Project Execution:

To solve the problem, Pando Telecom conducted a comprehensive analysis of the building's architecture and the materials used in its construction. Based on this assessment, a tailored solution was designed to enhance radio signal coverage across both floors of the 113,000-square-foot facility.

This involved the installation of a state-of-the-art Distributed Antenna System (DAS) designed specifically to boost public safety communication signals. The system was meticulously tested to ensure that it met all local regulatory standards and that it provided seamless coverage in all areas, including those that were most challenging due to the metal infrastructure.

Outcome:

The successful implementation of the DAS at Cave Creek Storage ensured complete radio signal coverage throughout the facility, meeting all public safety communication requirements. As a result, the storage unit now has robust communication capabilities, ensuring that emergency responders can rely on their radios in any situation, ultimately enhancing the safety of the facility's occupants and safeguarding the property.

Conclusion:

Pando Telecom's expertise in overcoming communication challenges in complex environments was pivotal in the success of the Cave Creek Storage project. Pando was able to deploy a successful solution for the Customer, by working closely within the strict requirements applied by Phoenix Fire code enforcement. By addressing the specific issues related to metal buildings and ensuring compliance with public safety communication standards, Pando Telecom delivered a solution that not only met but exceeded client expectations.

The project was completed on January 15, 2024.
